<p>Welcome to Power Shift 2013! This is a brief guide to your housing options while staying in Pittsburgh, PA.</p>

<p>Many of you will be arriving to Pittsburgh, PA for the first time, and securing your housing as soon as possible will free up your time to take in all that the city and Power Shift have to offer. First, and most importantly, remember that you are responsible for your own housing. <strong>Make sure you donâ€™t show up in Pittsburgh, PA on October 18th without having already arranged housing!</strong> The sooner you find a place to stay, the sooner you can focus on the more exciting parts of the Power Shift experience.

<p>You have four main options in housing, and figuring out which one is most appropriate for you or your group will involve several factors, especially the size of your group and the budget you are on.

<p><a href="#hotels"><strong>1) Power Shift Booked Hotels</strong></a>
</p>
<p>Power Shift has reserved several hundred beds posted below. These rooms have been reserved in large blocks, and both individuals and groups will be able to book rooms under our cheaper group rates. If you decide to book a room at one of these hotels, call the hotel individually and make sure to tell them that you are booking with Power Shift 2013 and the Energy Action Coalition.

<p>The vast majority of these rooms are double rooms that will accommodate Quad (4 person) capacity and are meant to be shared by 2-4 people. When reserving a room, note that the rate will not differ if you choose to house only two occupants to a room instead or four occupants.

<p>Several hundred beds of free or extremely low-cost housing (>$10 a day) have been made available to us by community and religious groups. These are not luxury accommodations. Think â€œIndoor Campingâ€. You will be responsible for your own bedding and will be sleeping on the floor of community rooms, racquetball courts and undercrofts. The rooms will be heated and youâ€™ll have access to a bathroom. That may be all. Because each of the spaces are different, you will have to contact the organizations to see exactly what the space you are using is like. <p>Of course you are welcome to find your own accommodations for Power Shift 2013. If you are figuring your own housing out, make sure to book hotels soon; the Pittsburgh, PA tourist season begins at the beginning of April and hotels will sell out long before that weekend. If you are looking to stay elsewhere, be creative. Check with family and friends in the DC Metro area, Use your imagination, just be sure to be safe and responsible. If you, like many Power Shifters want to camp, there is a list of DC area Campgrounds below.
